a day in the life of a tg

A day in the life of a transgender Imagine your dressed in a usually women’s wardrobe, check to make sure everything matches, and leave for the day. Only to be called man though the day, or get stared at, worse not be noticed. That’s a slight dose of what male to female tg goes though.

Re: a day in the life of a tg

Albight difficult and cumbersome, I applaud the trans community in making a stance against bigotry towards those dealing with gender identity.  I once had a friend, Robert, in grade school who felt he was a girl, not a boy.  Alot of his actions were suspect with some of the lewd actions he would perform in the classroom.  Was it a cry for help?  Was it a cry for attention?  No one really knows.  What we did know back then, is that Robert suffered from mixed feelings about his gender...his identity.  I hope that Robert, as well as many teens and pre-teens out there, can/could feel comfortable talking to a counselor without fear of taunting or teasing.  It's hard enough to experience life at that age anyway, but add in taunting and teasing about one's sexual preference, or gender identity, it has the making of being detrimental to one's esteem, let alone his/her lifestyle.

I applaud Hollywood for taking chances with Transgendered issues, telling the stories that just simply need to be told.  TransAmerica, the Brandon Teena Story, let alone other wonderful stories told on the silver screen, have made it a little more acceptible in the public's eye.  There will always be the stereotypes, the name calling, the prejudices and questionable actions of society in our lifetime, but holding your head up high, placing faith in your beliefs, know that your actions and activism in making the TG struggle more visible, have the saisfaction in knowing that younger generations might not have to experience what older generations have.  You've made it a little easier for future Trans children.
